There we were chatting over coffee, talking about how excited we each were for sweet Cataleya to make her debut. And as I often do with my clients, I asked Rai what date she thought she would be born. Then I shared my guess, and for whatever reason I had this gut feeling she would be born on June 10th (one week before her due date). Since picking a date is truly a shot in the dark, I didn’t think much of it.
A couple of weeks later it was go-time. I got the call super late at night (per usual), grabbed my bag and made my way to the Santa Clarita Birth Center. As I parked my car and headed in, it dawned on me that it was shortly after midnight on, you guessed it, the 10th! I quietly walked into the room as Rai finished up a contraction. Once the contraction passed I said my hellos and checked in with how she was doing, and said “guess what date it is?” She immediately remembered and laughed saying she had told her husband, Jez, that I had guessed Cataleya’s arrival.
Things picked up rather quickly from there, and before I knew it baby Cataleya had made her way earthside. Rai and Jez, along with their midwife Renee, made such a fantastic team…I’m grateful I was able to be there to document it!
