Coachella 2013 // Los Angeles film photographer

This is the second year that Nathan and I went to Coachella...and for those of you who are thinking 'what the heck is that??'....it is a 3 day music and art festival in Indio, CA. The lineup is chalk full of great artists/bands, and people from all over fly & drive to Indio to be apart of it every year. Both years now we have done the car camping, and luckily this year we got to camp next to our friends (learned from last year!). Camping at Coachella is fun, and exhausting all at the same time. It is the craziest sight to see thousands of cars all lined up with elaborate tents and little tent communities set up in between. We were more prepared this year and brought a stove and an easy up...thank God for those two things! You can't really run away from the terrible heat, but having that shade to hide under in between bands is great. At one of the stages they had misters (that were more like sprinklers) & people on stage had these huge squirt guns...needless to say, I was happy to pass through that area. Sadly, this year the second we got there my asthma & allergies spiked like crazy (as did last year), but at least this time I was smart enough to go to the med tent and ended up having to get back to back breathing treatments. They said it's really common, actually. And while I was in there there were a handful of people already in there/coming in to get breathing treatments. They had a special corner for it and there was a little sign taped to the side of the tent that read 'hookah lounge.' I got a kick out of that :) I was so happy that I brought along with me my Yashica 124 (TLR film camera). They don't allow 'professional' cameras inside so last year I brought a handful of disposable cameras with us. I had a feeling I would be able to get away with my Yashica since most people don't know what it is anyways :) It was a nice little challenge to be shooting solely with this camera for a few days. 1, because you have to look down into the camera to compose/focus your shot and 2, because its square format. That second one might sound silly but when you get used to shooting a certain type of format (I mainly shoot 645 format) it takes you a second to see how you want to reposition/compose your shot to fit the different type of format. Here's a picture of the 2013 lineup...you can see some of the awesome bands we got to see :) And here are some of the pictures from our weekend at Coachella! hugs, Lauren Los Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren GuilfordLos Angeles film photographer // Lauren Guilford
