Film is not dead workshop (Part I) // Los Angeles, CA

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend the Film is Not Dead workshop in LA with Jonathan Canlas. This workshop is something I've been wanting to do for over 2 years now and every time new dates were announced I longed to go. When I saw the LA dates announced there was no doubt about it - I knew I had to be there! Bottom line - I was blown away by this workshop. I had so many expectations going into these 3 days and not only were they all met, but exceeded as well! Many of you who follow my work or know me personally know that I have been progressively becoming more of a film shooter. I shot quite a bit of film in college but was always somewhat hesitant to shoot film with my clients. Why is that? Nerves. Insecurity. Not feeling prepared. So I started to slowly shoot a roll or so at each session - finding myself loving all my film shots over the digital. In the meantime, I finally signed up for FIND and the immediate community I had access to was priceless. While I waited for the FIND workshop to happen, I kept shooting and learning so much from fellow FINDers. I make note of this because the FIND workshop starts from the moment you sign up and most certainly doesn't end once the 3 days are over. AWESOME. This workshop - scratch that - Jon gave me the confidence I needed to shoot film. He taught us attendees so much, and on top of that he was a complete open book. As in would stay up all night to chat and answer any questions we could possibly have. There were no secrets, no egos. Just a complete passion for film and helping others push that passion into a reality. He helped me figure out my "why" and inspired me to get back into shooting personal work. I left this workshop feeling revived. I am so incredibly grateful for Jon being the awesome guy that he is and sharing his knowledge on film and photography. I am also grateful for the friendships I made while attending FIND. I couldn't ask for a better community to be apart of. For now I leave you all with some of my personal work from the last day of the workshop, the rest of my images from the workshop will be posted soon.   Hugs,Lauren   ps.
