When I first moved to Pasadena I dreaded finding a new place to get my eyebrows waxed. So much so that I avoided getting them done at all costs...which I'm sure was not my best decision (I can see Nathan shaking his head yes). Finally, after admitting how ridiculous my fear of finding a new esthetician was, I turned to Yelp. As I looked through places listed nearby, one stuck out a bit more than the others - Madison 101. It had great reviews, and everyone seemed to be so happy with their experiences. I picked up the phone and gave them a call. Cynthia squeezed me in that same day and the rest is history! :)  

Tell me a little bit about yourself -

I'm a single mom to three little boys.  We live in Altadena with our 4 chickens, two cats & a big old bunny.

How long have you been an esthetician, and what made you get into that field of work?

This is my 15th year practicing esthetics.  Before becoming an esthetician I was a practicing massage therapist and a personal trainer. My clients always hadmany questions including questions about their skin.  As far as what landed me in the estheticians chair, I'd have to say for the most part, curiosity and fascination.

What do you love most about your job?

Working with clients one on one in such a relaxing environment allows me to really get to know them. I've had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people with such amazing stories. I'm a problem solver and love a good challenge.  Working with problem skin or shaping someones out of control brows is so very satisfying for me.

What are some of the main services you offer?

Waxing is my number one requested service but I also do facials, peels, lash & brow tinting and massage.

You mentioned that you love to doing people's eyebrows...why is that?

Perhaps it's the perfectionist in me that finds so much satisfaction in creating the perfect arch, in tweezing out those short hairs that are just coming in, the ones the wax just can't pick up, so that the waxing lasts as long as possible.  It's art and I honestly find it quite fun!
