Los Angeles Family Photographer // Canlas Family

One of my dear friends is headed to Hawaii next week for a little vaca and as we chatted about me taking her to the airport I couldn't help but wish I was going along with her. Which, feels a bit bratty to admit since I just got home from traveling in the UK. To my defense, I was in jeans and layers the entire time...so the idea of spending a few days in a bathing suit and swimming in the warm ocean waters sounds quite amazing! As I've been daydreaming of Hawaii since our phone conversation, I realized I never shared these images from my last trip out there! While I was in Hawaii for Crystal's birth and newborn session, I was able to spend the day (Thanksgiving Day, no less) with these sweet friends of mine. It sounds a little funny to say that since Jon has been someone I've looked up to for years, turned teacher/mentor...turned friend. He's a rad guy and an amazing photographer...but what makes me respect and look up to him even more is this crew who stands beside him. I might argue that his wife Callie is even cooler than he is (to which, I'm sure Jon would agree). She is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I know. She is always so welcoming to everyone, and has this beautiful gift of bringing people together with her delicious food (my mouth waters at the thought of her yummy food!!). Not to mention she is this incredibly strong woman who holds down the fort of 6 kiddos...and makes it look easy. Six kids makes for a crazy, rambunctious house; one that oozes with noise full of life, and love. I'm so glad I was able to make my way to their side of the island to spend the day splashing around in the ocean, and catching up over yummy food and hot chocolate!
